A Koursely course is organized as modules containing lessons. This article covers building that structure, controlling when content unlocks (drip scheduling), and issuing certificates on completion.

Step 1: Create the Course Shell

1. Go to Courses → New Course and set a title, description, and cover image.
2. Set the price, or mark it free if it's a lead magnet.
3. Choose whether certificates are enabled for this course — this can also be changed later.

Step 2: Build Modules and Lessons

1. Add modules to represent major sections (for example, "Module 1: Foundations").
2. Within each module, add lessons using the drag-and-drop builder — reorder by dragging.
3. For each lesson, attach a video (via your connected video provider), a PDF, or rich text content, and optionally attach a quiz.

Step 3: Configure Drip Scheduling (Optional)

By default, students can access every lesson as soon as they enroll. Drip scheduling releases content gradually instead — useful for cohort-paced programs or to prevent students from binging and dropping off.

1. In the course settings, enable drip scheduling.
2. Set a release schedule per module — either a fixed number of days after enrollment, or fixed calendar dates for cohort-style releases.
3. Students see locked modules with their unlock date, so they know content is coming rather than assuming it's missing.

Step 4: Certificates

1. With certificates enabled, a student who completes 100% of the course lessons (and passes any required quizzes) automatically receives a certificate.
2. Customize the certificate template — title text, layout, and branding — from the course's certificate settings.
3. Certificates are issued with a unique, independently verifiable certificate ID, and can optionally be emailed automatically on issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change drip scheduling after students have already enrolled?

Yes, but changes apply going forward — a module you unlock early will become available to already-enrolled students immediately, so consider the effect on students mid-way through your course before adjusting the schedule.

Do quizzes count toward course completion?

If a quiz is attached with a required passing score, a student must pass it for that section to count as complete — see Building Quizzes and Assessments for the full quiz system.

Can I sell the same course to run as both self-paced and a live cohort?
