Coupons, Order Bumps & Upsell Funnels: Increasing Average Order Value
Set up discount codes, 1-click order bumps, and post-purchase upsells to increase revenue per sale.
Beyond your base course price, three built-in tools increase what each customer spends: coupons (discounts to drive conversion), order bumps (a small add-on at checkout), and upsell funnels (a bigger offer shown right after purchase).
Coupons
- Go to Sales → Coupons and create a new code.
- Set the discount as a percentage or a fixed amount, and choose which course(s) or service(s) it applies to.
- Optionally set an expiry date and a maximum number of redemptions, useful for time-boxed launch promotions.
- Share the code directly, or apply it automatically via a discounted checkout link.
Order Bumps
An order bump is a single checkbox offer shown at checkout, before the customer completes their purchase — for example, "Add the companion workbook for ₹499."
- Go to Sales → Order Bumps and create one attached to a specific course or service.
- Write a short, specific bump offer — bumps convert best when they're a clear, cheap complement to what's already in the cart, not a second unrelated product.
- Set the bump price and the product it grants access to.
Upsell Funnels
An upsell appears immediately after a successful purchase, offering a higher-value product before the customer even reaches their course dashboard.
- Go to Sales → Upsell Funnels and create a funnel attached to a specific "trigger" purchase.
- Set the upsell offer — typically a higher-tier product, a bundle, or a complementary course.
- Customers can accept with one click (charged to the same payment method) or decline and continue straight to their purchase.
Order bumps convert at pre-purchase intent; upsells convert on post-purchase momentum. A good rule of thumb: bump something cheap and directly complementary, upsell something meaningfully bigger that builds on what they just bought.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do coupons work across all connected payment gateways?
Yes — coupon logic is applied by Koursely at checkout before the payment request is sent to whichever gateway you're using, so it works consistently regardless of which gateway processes the transaction.
Can I stack an order bump and an upsell on the same purchase?
Yes — a customer could accept an order bump at checkout and then also see a post-purchase upsell immediately after, since they operate at different points in the flow.
